I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to feel stuck when things move slowly—especially in the job market.

And lately, that slow pace has been reinforced by the Fed’s recent move to hold interest rates steady. At a glance, it might seem like something only Wall Street cares about.

But in coaching conversations this week, it became clear just how personal economic policy can feel—when it’s impacting your job search, your compensation, or your leadership team’s budget.

Here’s what I want to offer this week:

This isn’t a time to panic. But it is a time to get intentional.

When timelines stretch out, or salary growth lags, here are three ways to stay grounded:

• Zoom out: Look at trends—not just this week’s job rejection. Are you building toward the type of work you want, or are you reacting to fear?
• Stay ready: Just because hiring is slower doesn’t mean opportunity isn’t coming. Keep your résumé, LinkedIn, and stories tight.
• Reclaim control: You may not influence interest rates, but you can control how clearly you communicate your value—and how well you align your next step to what really matters.

This economy doesn’t reward passivity. But it does reward clarity.

Stay sharp, stay rooted, and keep designing a career that aligns with your life—not just with the market.
